Does the train go direct from Paris to Villeneuve-Sur-Yonne?
Does anyone know if the train from Paris Gare Lyon goes directly to Villeneuve-Sur-Yonne or is it necessary to travel to Sens and take a taxi to Villeneuve-Sur-Yonne? That would seem easy enough, but I'm wondering how easy it is to find a taxi there. Our plan is to take a day trip to Villeneuve-Sur-Yonne on the train, have lunch at Auberge La Lucarne aux Chouettes, walk around the town a bit, and head back for Paris around 4:00 PM. We won't have a car, but will be relying on the train and taxi. Does this sound feasible?

I doubt whether anyone on this forum has memorised the train schedules. Try checking on www.bahn.de or www.voyages-sncf.com.

Intrepid1 & Cigale Chanta,
Thanks so much for your help! I've long wanted to go to the Auberge La Lucarne aux Chouettes, as I've been a fan of Leslie Caron since I was a child and first saw her in GiGi. We thought Villeneuve-Sur-Yonne might make a nice daytrip if it wasn't too difficult to get there by train, and we could stop at the auberge for lunch. Cigale Chanta, I think it must be as nice as it looks since you've stayed at the auberge twice That's good to know!
Geoff,
Thanks, I had already checked on the SNCF site before I asked my question. I was wondering if Sens/Villeneuve-Sur-Yonne was like Vernon/Giverny, where you must take the train to Vernon and then a bus to Giverny. I couldn't tell that from the website, so wondered if anyone had ever done the trip by train.

Both French and German web sites give train connections to Villeneuve-sur-Yonne. If you try connections to Giverny, the German site doesn't recognize "Giverny", while SNCF actually tells you that the nearest station is Vernon.
