Does Roma Pass covers free admission to Colosseum ?

We're travelling to Rome in August. Were wondering if Romapass covers Colosseum ?

Yes. Here are the rules for the card and a listing of the museums covered:

Basically it covers almost all state- and city-owned and/or operated sites. Major exclusion is church-owned sites such as the Vatican Museums, catacombs, towers/domes, cloisters etc. But they don't charge admission for just visiting any church.

There are two different Roma Passes. The 3 day Roma Pass (36€) gives you two free admissions, discounts after that and transport. The Colosseum/Forum/Palantine count as one admission off the pass (one entry to each area though). Entry tickets are normally 12€ which are good for two days (one entry each area).

To get the value of the pass, you pretty much have to visit the most expensive sites (such as the Colosseum and Galleria Borghese - 16€) as your first two visits and use the metro/buses/trams some (1.50€ per ride). Otherwise, you might find it cheaper to just to book entry only tickets with each venue which lets you bypass lines.

The 48 hour Roma Pass (28€)only gives you one free entrance and then discounts at others.

One small correction: The Roma Pass gives you one free entrance to the Colosseum and one free entrance to the combined Roman Forum/Palatine Hill site. You can pass from one to the other once you're inside, but you can't leave and re-enter at the entrance to the other.

My wife and me - we will buy two Roma Pass. But as I found, for our 5 and 15 years of age kids, entrance to Colosseum is free - is it true ?

here's the website for colosseum entry - kids under 18 are indeed free but if ordering in advance, you still need to get them a ticket.

http://www.rome-museum.com/colosseum-tickets.php>>

if you have a Roma pass and are accompanying a child who doesn't need to pay, you still have to get them a ticket but they can enter with you and don't have to wait in the queue:

so i would go ahead and get Roma passes [if you decide to get them] for the adults in your party and just pay for the children as and when you need to; the same applies to buses - your 5 year old travels free, as you will with Roma passes but you will need to buy tickets, or a bus/metro pass for the 15 year old.

annhig - While I think this old post may have been topped by an advertiser, that isn't the official site for the Colosseum, it's a reseller (called Tuscanyall) that marks up the price (quite a bit more on the Vatican than it does on the Colosseum). This is the official site for tickets for the Colosseum.

KY - point taken, but I wasn't using for the tickets, but for the info it gave.

how people who are not familiar with the official site addresses are supposed to work out which they are I have no idea.

I hadn't even noticed the advert!
