We will have spent 4 days in Rome on the front end of our cruise and we'd like to do something different rather than going back into Rome for 2 nights, 1 day. Any place around that's beautiful, different, and interesting hotels or inns in the country side? etc?

There are threads here that have recommended a particular country hotel or inn near the airport for someone who didn't want to return to Rome but was flying out from there. You might search for something line "rome" "aiport" "hotel" here.
This recent link has some good ideas in the higher price realms. But in a less-lofty range, there are quite a few good-looking properties in the Frascati/Castelgandolfo area. There is another link with info on these; let me know if you cannot find it and are interested.

Here is the thread I was thinking of; it mostly deals with inland Lazio, but has a few ideas for the Castelli Romani area near the city of Rome and with easy access to the airport.
