Do you know this Vitznau hotel?

www.hobbyhotel.ch/

It's much cheaper than www.beaurivage-weggis.ch/

So we are thinking switching. Luxury and swimming pools don't matter to us, but charm and scenery do.

There's nothing on tripadvisor about the Hobby Terrasse.

Any advice? Is Vitznau just as nice as Weggis?

Thanks!

Vitznau is smaller and a bit harder to get too. It's beautiful too.

Will you have a car?

No car, Schuler. Won't the same Lucerne boats stop there?

have a look at www.sbb.ch for faster connections from Vitznau to Lucerne.
The boats stop at Vitznau too, but they take longer to Lucerne.

Looks like the boat ride is right around an hour each way. Right? Not too bad.

Hello Cimbrone

I love, love, love Vitznau! It's situated directly on the edge of the lake, and there is a lovely promenade directly in front of the hotel you mentioned.

We have eaten at their restaurant a couple times. You can eat in the dining room (which is the big room with all the windows) or outside on the patio in the summer. Lovely!

The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the Rigi area. The coal train for excursions to Rigi is a mere 50 feet or so from the hotel. And the stop for the lake paddlesteamers is directly in front of that (about an hour boat ride from Lucerne). So schlepping your luggage is no problem; only a 30 second walk to the steps of the hotel.

The town is very small, charming and quiet. There is a lovely bakery/ice cream shop, a cute gift shop with all sorts of Swiss souvenirs, and several other hotels.

If you're looking for charm and scenery, this is a good spot!

Happy travels!

Hi kopp. That's excellent news. It sounds like I'm set!

When I called the hotel this morning and spoke with the very friendly, English-speaking owner, I could hear church bells ringing in the background. I think we'll be in heaven
