Do we need Roma pass for 5 and 15 years old kids ?
As planning to visit Rome in August, want to know how many Romapass we should buy for my wife, me and two kids. Somebody mentioned that 5 and 15 years are free for Colosseum admission. If we buy only two, can we enter without the long que all together as kids will not have the pass.

The children can enter with you. They have to pick up their free tickets inside, I think at the group tours desk. There is a separate queue for Roma Pass holders, and they should be able to point you to the right place to get the tickets for the children.
The Roma Pass is not worth getting if the Colosseum is the only covered site that you'll be using it for. It would be cheaper to buy the tickets for the Colosseum online, which will cost €14 for the adults, and a €2 reservation fee for the children.

Your five-year-old will ride free on all public transportation, as well. If you think you'll be using public transportation a lot, as in four or more trips a day, you could get a 1-day or 3-day transportation pass for the three of you who won't ride free. However, most people don't use public transportation this much. A "trip" includes transfers between buses, trams, and the metro system, with the ticket being good for 100 minutes. Only one entrance to the metro system is included on a single ticket, but you can ride as many buses and trams as you like, until your 100 minutes are up. I usually just buy a bunch of single tickets, and when they're beginning to run low, I buy more.

Thanks. We will be arriving in Rome on the late afternoon on Aug 17. Have two full days to visit the sites - Probably Coliseum and Vatican. So, with two kids of 5 and 15, better to buy two Romapass. Flight from Rome to Paris on Aug 20 at 18:30. So, if time permits, will try to go to Borghese gallery.

I don't see the point of buying any Roma Pass with only two days (even the 48 hour pass doesn't seem worthwhile for your list) and you can't tack on the Borghese if time allows as it's reservations only. You might luck out and be able to get in, but it would be a gamble.
Book Vatican Museums tickets with the Vatican. Book Colosseum tickets with Coopculture (official booking for Colosseum). Both will let you bypass the ticket lines.
