Do I need tickets to see the Alhambra Palace at night?
Hello,

I will be going to Spain late September and I have already booked my tickets for a tour of the Alhambra in Granada. I have read that walking around the palace grounds in the moonlight is just breathtaking. My question is: do I need to book tickets to get in at night, or will I be okay just getting there that day.
Also, are the pm tours nightly?

Thanks in advance,
Lynn

Where are you staying in Granada? Have you considered the parador on the Alhambra grounds? It's probably too late to get a reservation for next month, but seems worth checking, even if you can get a room for only one night. Go to www.parador.es (yes, there's an English page).

From the site:
... the Catholic kings were buried for some time in the old church of the Franciscan convent--today, the Parador itself--until the year 1521, when their remains were moved to the Royal Chapel where they lie now. And, if you lodge here, you can spend the night in the gardens of the Alhambra.

Hi Lynn, I visited with my wife Granada last year. Nothing can be compare with the esperience.Have your lunch there, sip the wine and feel the past and the presence of Boabdil but as Escritora recomended, try to stay at the site in the Hotel at the Alhambra. Every day after we regret not to have been there.I can't remember the name but there is another Hotel besides the parador, something like Boston or an American city ).The parador is beatiful but a little more expensive.

Yes, you need separate tickets for day and night. If the travel is going to be in summer, sure you will need to buy those tickets previously (it is not allowes more then 8000 visitors at the same time-, but I think that in later Sep. or Oct. you won't.

But during the nigth you will be able to visit only a part of monument (but the price is the same): 'Los Palacios Nazarķes', you will not come into the palace of Charles V (The Emperor, whom never could see his palace) or into 'El Generalife' and its gardens.

But the visit is something incredible at night, with same atmosphere of the 'moros' times -the lights are perfect at closed night-.

I did both visits, and I can say both were great.
