Dining suggestioins in/enroute to Vezelay

We plan to spend one day going to Vezelay from our base in Dijon, and I wondered if anyone had any restaurant recommendations for there or somewhere near. We would prefer "typique de la region" food, not cutting edge Michelin starred places. Thank you for any suggestions!

The Hostellerie des Clos in Chablis might fit the bill. It's 1* Burgundian cuisine.

Hi G,

Other posters have recommended
Le Calibressan in Semur.

There are other restaurants as well.

Thank you, Jean and Ira. Any recommendations for Dijon itself? Coco has mentioned a couple, and she is surely the Dijon expert, but I think we need a few b/c we will be there during the wine festival which will mean lots of people all flocking to great places to eat.

Nothing, grandmere--sorry. The only place we ate in Dijon was a Chinese restaurant, at the point when we were desperate for Asian food. It was terrific, too.

Hi,
Why not stop at "l'Hostellerie de la Poste" in Avallon. It is on your way to Vezelay. I worked there in 92 and loved the place. When I check the website it even looks nicer. They're now part of "Chateaux et Hotels de France" and they seem to have a good chef. And then have a look at the old town center which is lovely.(just nearby)

Le Moulin des Ruats is very nice as well (near the Cousin river down Avallon)

but they open for dinner only during the week.
check the menus here just in case:

Grandmere, I'm far from being an restaurant expert in Dijon, I wish I was!
Jean, which Asian restaurant did you try?

It was on a street off to the right from the fine-arts museum--perhaps 2 blocks. The owner spoke English as well as French and Chinese, and we had a nice chat about the differences in Chinese cuisine as prepared in France and America.

Thank you, everyone, for the suggestions; they all look wonderful. Decisions, decisions. I think Avallon appears to be a good place to have dinner on the way back to Dijon.
