Hi London Fodorites,
Does anyone have any recommendations for a pre/post theater restaurant for the Old Vic? I'll be alone that day and I'm not averse to sitting alone in a restaurant just so long as it doesn't feel like a "couples-only," romantic place. (I hope that makes sense...) I love all cuisines. More important to me is interesting, good food and to be able to stroll a block or two to/from theater. Any favorite places out there?

Just up the street is a branch of Livebait which I really like. Really imaginative fish dishes of all sorts. And definitely not a dark/romantic place.
But there are several other good places in The Cut (the street running in front of the theatre)
HI!

I am not actually a London Fodorite, but did see a show at the Old Vic in December (very cool theatre, btw) and loved the restaurant we ate at which was a few blocks away (maybe a 5 minute walk). It was called Tas and had awesome Turkish/Middle Eastern food in a fun atmosphere. The service was excellent and it is not a "romantic" type place. It is at 33 The Cut.

Hope that helps. Have fun!
TAS ticks all your boxes, as they say. although, for some unexplained reason, i do not embrace TAS or TAS pide. i want to but for some reason i can't. and i've been there many times.

the atmosphere is good, the food is good, and service decent (and excellent on the right night). many people do like it, including my partner...give it a try....i think it's just my problem
