Dijon

We will be arriving in Dijon on a Sunday afternoon (first available train) to start a bike trip the following morning. We return to Dijon the next Saturday and are trying to figure out whether to spend the rest of the day in Dijon and leave in the evening -- can anyone advise whether we should spend the extra time in Dijon (as opposed to returning to Paris)? Does anyone have recommendations for what to see in Dijon (not sure what is open on Sun/Sat)
Thanks.

Hi cn and welcome to Dijon! You don't say when you'll be there but unless it is a bank holiday, everything will be open on Saturday. If you can, don't miss the food market in the morning (until 1pm). The best thing to do to visit Dijon is to go to the tourist office (one near the train station main entrance and the other one in the dukes Palace entrance on rue des Forges) and ask for the Owl's trail brochure. You'll follow the small brass steps on the floor which lead the main sights and you'll read about them in the brochure. http://www.travelsignposts.com/destination/France/Dijon

If you allow one more day, don't miss the Fine Arts museum (in the dukes palace too) Magnin museum, the Burgundian life museum, the botanical garden (the list is getting too long now..)
Check the TO video http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xc1...travel?start=0

Have a great bike trip and have fun in Dijon!

I can vouch for the charm of the tourist office's "Owls Trail" you will get a wonderful walking tour of this pretty town. We lucked into being there for a wonderful outdoor antique market. No way we would be able to buy any of the furnishings offered, but we took some terrific photos and enjoyed some daydreams.
