Departure Tax in UK

Is it true that to leave London now, it is $600 per person?

Certainly. You can avoid any difficulties by payment in advance - I will accept bank drafts direct to my Panamanian shell company.......

If you are flying out you've already paid the ridiculous amount but if you leave before 4 AM it is cheaper.

actually, pretty close if you are on a private/executive jet. But if you own a Gulfstream you can afford it . . .

And many more measures will follow to stop the exodus after the Brexit vote.

Thank you, janisj. Actually, that pertains to my inquiry. If any others would like to answer politely, would appreciate learning of regular, travel departures.

The vast majority of people asking questions here are travelling by regular scheduled transport services, costs and timetables for which are readily available. Had you specified that this was to do with some special private arrangement, you might have had more helpful information. As you phrased it, it simply looked like one of those mad rumours that get passed around.

That's what it looked like to me. Janisj must have a crystal ball!

Actually, if BarYvo was really asking about APD for a private jet, the answer may be here: https://www.gov.uk/government/public...passenger-duty

I don't have a crystal ball either, but know how to use Google. ;-)

I really don't know what you expected, BarYvo. you've been on Fodors long enough to know that you get out what you put in - if you want a detailed accurate reply you need to provide a detailed accurate query.

if you had said "anyone know how much the UK departure tax is on a private jet?" you'd have got a better answer.

You're right, have been on a number of years and never have been skewered for not correctly phrasing to some standards. All you have to do is nothing and be done with it but you felt entitled to be sarcastic. This is a place to go for help. Next time, I will preface with, "Please be tolerant if I have not used the right words. That is why I am posting...to get info."

It wasn't a matter of "not correctly phrasing", more not making clear what it was you were asking.

What Patrick said.

And I wasn't sarcastic at all. The help that is given here is purely voluntary as you know and people tend to get a bit cranky when other people post impossibly vague questions and then grumble when they don't get the precise answers they require.

Load of codswallop -- sorry but it is.

99.99% of people asking >>Is it true that to leave London now, it is $600 per person?<< . . . would be asking re flying commercial .. BA, AA, KLM, AirFrance, whatever. Therefore my initial response . . "No"

.01% (probably much less) might be asking about private jets. If you got less than useful response . . it is on you, not us.
