My family ( husband and 3 kids , ages 16 , 13 and 9) will be visiting Denmark for about 5 days before a cruise.
We visited Denmark briefly 3 years ago. We visited Copenhagen and surrounding areas (Rosenborg Castle , Nyhaven , Tivoli , St.Albans Church and the Langelinie , Fredricksborg , Kronborg ). We loved it!
I am contemplating two different itineraries this time around and would love some input.
Itinerary A-
Stay closer to Copenhagen...spend three days at a hotel in Copenhagen , visit Mons Klimt , Humlebaek , Dragor and perhaps stay 2 nights at a nice coastal hotel in the region in a town like Hornbaek or Gilleleje..
Itinerary B-
Venture to Aero and spend perhaps 2 nights and on the way visit Egeskov Castle ( my kids love antique cars and the maze sounds cool!) , then spend 2 or 3 days in Copenhagen and do what "moves " us.
Opinions??? Both sound so good , have a hard time deciding....can´t do more than 5 days , as our cruise is 12 days and we are spending 3 days in Amsterdam post cruise , time constraints!
Thanks,
Kim

Hi Kim!
Sounds like you got two good itineraries to choose from, however it depends a little bit on when you and your family is visiting.
Staying in Copenhagen and visit Moens Klint, Humlebaek and Dragor is a fantastic idea, especially if you're here during summertime. Humlebaek has Louisiana as well, a nice artmuseum, which actually has an exhibit on one of the 20th century's most influential danish artist, Asger Jorn. But it is fullday-activities, especially Moens Klint, I assume you'd be taking the train and it takes a while to get back and forth. Hornbaek and Gilleleje in summertime is considered recreational getaways for most city-folks and has very nice beaches and are usually very relaxed and laid-back in july/august. This way, you'll get city-feel and summer-relaxation.
Aero is really beautiful, there isn't much there but nature though. If you really wanna visit Egeskov Castle, you could set aside a day and depart from Copenhagen in the morning, that should still give you enough time for a fun day in the maze!
Hope you have fun!

Thank you so much for your kind response!
I am really excited about our trip....we are planning to rent a car for our day journeys. Since we have a family of 5 , I think it´ll be more practical and will give us more freedom.
We rented a car last time and found the country very nice to navigate.
We will be in Denmark Mid July.
Is Moen Klint far better than Steves Klint , which I see is closer?
Between the cliffs and Aero , which would be nicer in your opinion?
Thanks again!
My kids had a great time at Egeskov. They were 14, 11, and 9 at the time.
Hi!
I'd prefer Moens Klint than Stevns, it's beautiful down there and the enormous white cliffs are quite breathtaking. Besides you can take your kids exploring and you might be able to find huge chunks of amber and fossils that are million years old. I find that kinda stuff really fascinating, and if you have a car down there, you might make a stop in Stege, the "capital" of Møn.
Take a stroll down the narrow medieval streets of this old town (dates back to 12something), and have dinner at their local brewhouse. It's suppose to be good, haven't been there myself though. Furthermore they have like an old candystore, where you can make your own bonbons, I'm sure the kids'll love it!
I hope you'll enjoy our time here, good luck!
How about Egeskov, Moens Klint and www.knuthenborg.dk. With 3 nights. Then on your way up you could stop at Roskilde for the www.vikingeskibsmuseum.dk and end your tour in Dragor before starting your cruise.
