Delta 763 and 744

Having just read about the discomfort experienced by many on Delta's 777 (sardines), I am quite anxious about my upcoming flight. Does anyone know if Delta's 763 and 744 are larger than the 777? I flew across the country in a small (one aisle plane) recently and had SERIOUS claustrophobia. Delta assures me that my flight to England and home from Paris are both "wide bodied" planes. Is this accurate??? Please help! Thanks

These are wide-bodied airplanes, 767-300 and 747-400 respectively. <BR> <BR>Don't know about Delta's seat configuration on these planes, but they're _large_ aircraft.

You can look at the "floorplans" of each type of plane on their web site at http://www.delta-air.com I've flown Delta to Europe several times and there isn't a whole lot of room, but in general, there's more room than on a domestic flight. If you can afford it, try to upgrade to their Business Elite class, it's wonderful!!

How much money does a business elite seat cost on a trans Atlantic flight, say from Atlanta to Heathrow or Gatwick or Charles deGaulle airports??

Hi Gerianne! At about $5,000 per seat, assuming I can qualify for a senior discount, I'll call today and order up 5 or 6 of those. Now let's see, for a second mortgage on the house, I can get an interest rate of ...... <BR>

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that Delta is just beginning to fly 777's now that they settled with the pilots union.. Horror stories must have come from other airlines... Delta also does not fly 747's and they are phasing out their fleet of L1011's [my favorite]. They have been flying MD88's and 767's. Yes all flights overseas are on widebody airplanes. You cancheck as to the type and configuration before leaving. Enjoy your trip <BR> alan

To Bob Brown and any other folks that fly out of Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport. Delta has code sharing arrangements with a number of European airlines. We've flown Austrian Air and Sabena as code share partners of Delta and found ourselves in Airbus 340s with far more ample seat and leg room than Delta's MD80s and L1011s.

Gerianne, <BR>Delta's 763 code identifies a Boeing 767-300 with a seating arrangement of 7 across in a configuration of 2-3-2. It has 1 to 4 rows in first class, 10 to 47 in economy. Rows 25 and 46 have limited reclining seats. Rows 25 and 26 are exit rows. Best seats in the house are A26 and G26, window seats with great leg room since there is no seat in front of them due to the exit row 25.

visit Cheap Flight forum in www.eurotrip.com we just answered a question for someone and told him where to find business class to europe for under $1,000. Corsair flies to Paris and their seats are cheap as compared to $5,000. I think from the East Coast they are under $1,000. But read the thread in Eurotrip for the other airlines .

Let's face it, they are all miserable. However, my husband flew to Amsterdam on Delta on a 767, and said they must have left have the cushion out of the seat. It was horrible. We flew a 777 to Buenos Aires.....sardine flight, no leg room...On the way back I complained and we got upgraded to Business class. That is really nice.......but I sure wouldn't want to pay for it. <BR>

I flew United's 777 to London in September. Had heard co-workers say it was such a nice aircraft. Well, I am not too tall, and definitely do not have long legs, and almost "freaked out" when I found my seat in coach. It was so close to the seat in front of it. And, of course, the passenger in front of me insisted on reclining for most of the flight. Aarghh. <BR> <BR>Then, I thought to ease my pain, at least I would have my own video screen in the back of the seat in front of me. Wrong! This particular 777 trans-Atlantic did not have that feature. Luckily at least I had that feature on the return flight. <BR> <BR>Given the choice between a 777 and a 767 I'll take the 767 hands down. And, another thing...on the triple 7, there are 5 across the middle, so pity the poor passenger in the center seat on a long flight. Ugh.

Just a point of clarification: The Delta MD88 referred to above is actually a narrow-body rehash of the DC9 and is only flown domestically. Delta uses widebody MD11's for transatlantic flights. <BR> <BR>I agree with Wes - I'd first take an Airbus 340 (by far), then the MD11, then the 767.

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. There are some real experts among you!!! So.....one more question, if you will. My friend is flying from NY to Zurich on a Delta 330....I went to the website and couldn't find any plane with that #. Does anyone know what kind of plane that is??? Thanks!
