De Pijp in Amsterdam?

The two of us (66 yrs old) will be for the first time in Amsterdam Aug 28- Sept 2 and then Sept 23-Sept 30. While we plan some day trips out of the city, we want to rent an apartment for the duration in Amsterdam. I am looking at neighborhoods and rental options and have a few questions:

- is Pijp a neighborhood that you would recommend? We are looking for a place which is lively but not rowdy, as safe as it can be in a large city, someplace in the center or close and w. easy public transport to most attractions. What areas would you suggest?

- is there a reliable website specialized on apartment rentals in Amsterdam (like Habitat or Airbnb) that you would recommend?

- did you stay in any apartments that you would recommend, possibly not more than $150/night for two?

Thanks in advance for your help.
