DC and NYC area residents - low fare heads up

Maxjet (formally Skylink) is still getting final approvals and will now start flights in the fall (originally were supposded to strat this spring).

They are new a no-frills, JetBlue type, airline that will initially have non-stop service from BWI to Stansted and JFK to Stansted. Expected RT airfare will be around $200. From Stansted, you could possibly get a seperate ticket on a different budget airline to many destinations throughout Europe for less than $100.

Sign up here to get initial grand opening specials when they become available:

By the way, there was supposedly some low-cost carrier that'd fly to Nantes from NYC. Do people recall what that was? I guess that never took off? I remember trying to check last September.

It's Ocean Airways:

Maybe I shouldn't get too excited about Maxjet....

About these no-frills airlines -
Do you need to bring your own (folding) chair to sit on on-board?

Thanks, Bardo. Having just paid $1100 for a last-minute coach seat to Paris in August, I needed this.

Dick,

The Washington Post has been following this for a while and had given fare/route info in earlier Business section articles.

LOL ... not holding my breath but...
I think I can deal with no frills over and back...I can get frilly once I'm there!
I have a lot on my "to do" list this year...but I still want to jam a trip to Europe to meet my new fella's family in Munich...

Thanks for the tip! I signed up - couldn't hurt. Maybe nothing will come of it, but then again, it could be great!

I've signed up too.

Maybe on my next, next trip I will hop from Vancouver to Seattle by bus, Seattle to New York by low-cost air, Maxjet to Stansted, and another low-cost carrier to wherever.
