Day trips from Seville and Malaga

Day trips from Seville and Malaga
I have 5 nights in Seville in January.
Can anyone recommend any day trips from Malaga and Seville.
Which day trips is better; Granada or Cordoba?
I will also be going to Malaga for 4 nights and Barcelona for 3 nights during my Spain trip.
I am travelling by train. I have already pre-booked all accommodation at these 3 cities, so I have planned to do day trips from Malaga and Seville.

Granada's Alhambra is a must-see (IMO), but does not lend itself well to a day trip -- you really need two nights there to do it justice.
Cordoba's Mezquita is another must-see (IMO). It can be seen as a day trip from Sevilla, although I personally thought Cordoba merited 2 full days.
With only 5 days in the area, you will need to be extremely selective. Sevilla itself easily merits 4 days -- which means you really don't have time for Sevilla, Granada, AND Cordoba.
You are going to have to make some very difficult decisions!

Cordoba, once the most modern city in Europe, is an easy day-trip from both Sevilla and Malaga, 40 and 50 minutes respectively with the high speed AVE Train (renfe.com)

Granada is 1h 30 mins by the fastest bus from Malaga (alsa.es). Departures all the time. You could leave Malaga at 10 to be in Granada by 11:30 (the first bus leaves Malaga at 7am and arrives Granada at 8.45). If you leave Granada at 18:30, you'll be back in Malaga an hour before most restaurants open for dinner at 9pm. http://www.theguardian.com/travel/20...taurants-tapas
Antequera, the so called heart of Andalucia, could also be a nice day trip from wonderful Malaga city. http://www.andaluciacoastandcountry....era-spain.html

I am by no means an expert on Spain - I have only been one time, last May. I will tell you if you have not seen the Alhambra it is a must see...it was stunning - I am SO glad we went and got to experience it.

January is difficult, but depending on your dates, if you will be there in early January, then there are Christmas celebrations going everywhere. If later in the month, say the 19th and 20th, the you can head to San Sebastián-Donostia for the Tamborada. You can then catch a flight to Barcelona.
