Day trips from Monaco

Looking for suggested day trips from Monaco to Italy and/or toward Nice.
Will be based in Monaco for a couple of weeks with several college students.
Appreciate any suggestions.

Do you need a day trip in Monaco? It's pretty small. Certainly the Old Town. We enjoyed the palace. If I was there for two weeks, I'd probably visit the waterfront and yacht areas, and some high end shopping streets. Casino, aquarium. Gardens.

Monaco: aquarium, castle, old town, cathedral, antique car museum. Walking around the casino square is quite nice and if anyone in the group is a Formula 1 fan, a walk around the course, down to the hairpin, through the tunnel and along the swimming pool is a 'must' to do!

Great lovely scenic short walk - along an untouched Riviera coast line goes from Monaco to Cap d'Ail - students will love it - remote swimming places - clear clean water and even skinny dippers the times I've gone - end at Cap d'Ail train station so you can scoot quickly back to Monaco - bring a picnic - one of the few untouched pieces of coastline in a rather heavily built up seaside area.

and there is one the other way from Monaco towards Menton as well.

I think Italy is much more interesting! If you are traveling by train, visiting Bordighera is nice, but you might look up the tourist attractions of Ventimilglia (not as pretty, but historic) and see if that fits your group. If you have a van or bus, Apricale is a sight, and Dolceacqua is quite nice too. There is an observatory in Perinaldo.

Interesting that a group of college students would be staying in Monaco - not where they usually put students.

You do realize that Monaco is tiny - about half the size of Central Park don;t you?

OP already finished the trip, but for those searching for similar answers in this forum, Nice, Eze, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, or Cannes are great options for day trips from Monaco. If you want to experience a slower pace of life in a smaller town, then Eze and Saint Jean Cap Ferrat offer beautiful views with a small town feel. Nice is bigger and has more things to do. Cannes is ritzy and beautiful and smaller than Nice.

Nice, Eze or Antibes.

When our daughter was in college and studying in Paris, she enjoyed Aix en Provence for a weekend and loved it, FWIW.

Thanks for topping this. We're looking into Monaco for the Grand Prix next year for Mr. 007's birthday.
