Do any of you have experience with organized day trips from Ljubjlana? I'm wondering if there are some companies who do these trips to the east and the west especially (we plan to do Bled and the Julian Alps on our own). Or maybe you know if the public bus system might work. Thanks for any ideas you have in this regard.
Jim

There are frequent buses to Bled , You may want to look at
Maitaitom's Central (Don't Call It Eastern) European Excursion Ljubljana? is about 2 thirds of the way down his report.
Jean.
Why not just rent a car for a couple of days? The rates are reasonable and the driving is easy. Then, you can go your own way and visit Goriska Brda, Kobarid and the Soca River Valley, Logarska Dolina and Piran as well.
Public bus transportation will not suit you, if you are seeking for day trips. Some connections are so poor and especially during summer time, because of school holiday till end off August. Cheapest solution is indeed to rent a car and do your own exploration. But, if you want someone to organize it for you, you mifgt try After Fly transfers. They are sited in Ljubljana. They have some prearranged tours, and they can do custom tours. Of course, it costs more...but it is time saver. Just search them in browsers, and something will pop up.
