Day tour Dublin/Wicklow/Glendalough - Wild Wicklow Tours or Over the Top Tours?
Trying to decide which is the better tour. Over the Top Tours' tour:
http://overthetoptours.com/tours/wicklow/index.htm
or Wild Wicklow Tours' tour:
http://www.discoverdublin.ie/wildcoa...s_wicklow.html
Anyone been on either of these? Thoughts? It looks like the Over the Top Tour buses only hold up to 14 people. Anyone know how many to expect on the Wild Wicklow Tour?
All comments appreciated!! Thanks!

I just had a look at both these websites (I'm going to Dublin in December - although the views and visibility will probably be nil then given the weather).
The Wild Wicklow Tour appeals a little more than the other.
But to be honest, being the independent soul I am, and having a slight aversion to organised tours, I feel that for the same price I could hire a car for the day and still do the same route and see the same things.
And I'd have the flexibility and freedom to go somewhere else, stop for longer in another place, etc. But then I wouldn't get the 'camaraderie' of a tour, so I guess it's six of one and half a dozen of the other......
I'd be interested in hearing of other people's experiences though.

Thanks, Julia! Yeah, I really wish I could rent a car and drive myself ... but having rented a car in England a few years ago, and then having the most frightening time I've ever had driving, I decided that on this trip I wasn't going to drive. I wouldn't be able to relax. I'm sure I'd get used to it after a couple of days and would do better, but at the end of the day last time I wanted to just pull over and have someone come get me (rain, dark, narrow streets, couldn't see, didn't know where I was going, lights coming at me from the 'wrong' side of the street), so I'm going with public transportation this time!
I'll report back when I return!

I can understand, it's scary driving in another country, especially if you are on the other side of the road. Ireland for me wouldn't be a problem, but if I were in Europe or the US....
When are you going - if it's before I go I'd be interested to hear which tour you chose and if it is worth it.
My feeling was I would go for Wild Wicklow if I had to choose one tour over the other.
I am travelling to Ireland because my twin sons are on a rugby tour. They will be going with their school to Southern Ireland, playing a match in Waterford/Wexford, maybe both, then travelling up to Dublin for another match. I shall definitely go to the Dublin match, but it seems a long way to go to watch the other matches, especially when I could be Christmas Shopping!! But I do get bored with shopping quickly, and a day's tour could fit nicely into the schedule. I'd love to see the Wicklow Mountains - I will be with my daughter who went on the same tour (although she was playing hockey) 2 years ago, and she says it was beautiful country on the drive up to Dublin, and can't wait to go to Ireland again!.

I am going in just a few days! I'll definitely come back with a long post - I used a lot of others' information from this site and want to pass along the favor.
I'm now sort of leaning toward the Over the Top Tour, as another tour I'll be taking will go down the coast, and so there may be more overlap with the Wild Wicklow Tour. Though I've heard the Wild Wicklow guides are great, so I don't think you can go wrong with them.
I'll be sure to let you know what I pick!

I would choose the following tour: https://www.buseireann.ie/asp/TourDe...1&SEASON_ID=71
Reason: it combines both Glendalough and Powerscourt. Since they are not too far apart it makes sense to visit both on the same day trip. I think the other tours don't combine them because they want you to sign up for another tour the next day to see what you missed.

IrishEyes - thanks for the idea. I'm actually staying overnight in Glendalough (Laragh .. is that right? I should look it up), because I want to spend a quiet night out in the beautiful boonies and I want to see Glendalough after all the tourists have gone home! I hate touristy crowds. Otherwise, though, I think you're right, that it would be wise to combine the two. Thanks!
