Hello!
We are two young ladies travelling Rome. We are looking for a nice 1-2 day hikes neat Rome.

The start+ending village should be accessible by short public transport (one hour maximum) from Rome & have a guesthouse(non expensive one).
We wish to see nice views and automn colored trees (beech forests?).

Umbria. There are lots of beautiful towns and hiking trails. We were staying in Orvieto so didn't hike from town to town but others were doing that. We did hike though and he views were so pretty.

Maybe not so much a hike but we loved Ostia Antica outside of Rome. We spent the day poking around the ruined city with hardly ANYONE there but us. We brought a picnic and (yes it says no pickniking but the few Italians there were enjoying lunch on the ruins too).

Check out the Castelli Romani, a string of ancient towns where Roman emperors, the rich and popes made their summer homes- set around a volcanic lake- great hikes around the lake and between the towns.

About an hour by train from Rome to the farthest one.

There are also hikes around Lake Bracciano. There are two lakeside towns, Bracciano and Anguillara, which are easily reached from Rome by either train or bus.

However, before deciding on a place to hike, you need much more specific information than I (or Palenq or Ruby) have given you. You need to know about specific trails and whether they can be reached from the towns where you would stay without a car. Also, how long the hike takes, how well marked the trail is, and what the dislevel is. I spent some time trying to find out this kind of information about the trails on Lake Bracciano, but I couldn't find it.
