Daughter leaving this week for 6 months in London...some advice needed

Jump to last reply

My 21 year old daughter is leaving Thursday night for 6 months in London. We have been completely unsuccessful in finding a flat share from the US (mostly using spareroom.co.uk on the advice of just about everyone) so we booked 15 nights in a dorm which is located very near Barbican Centre. The nearest tube stop is Moorgate. She'll have to find something more permanent when she arrives. Advice on some really simple things is needed though. Where should she go to buy an iron and a hair dryer? How about a pay as you go mobile phone? She will have a good amount of luggage with her so what is the best option for getting from Heathrow into London (OK, she can probably research that one on her own.) Any insights on how she should approach the flat share search? Thanks all.
