Daughter in Rota, Spain (near Cadiz) needs a baby crib...Please help me find a store!

All you Fodorites have been extremely helpful with your hints & itineraries...that is why my husband & I had such a wonderful time in Paris a few months ago. I really could use some help now. My daughter's husband is in the Navy, stationed in Rota, Spain (near Cadiz). She is expecting a baby in July & we told her we would buy the crib for her. She is having a terrible time trying to find one. She says they are smaller than US cribs & the ones she has seen (at the Navy PX) are cheaply made. Does anyone (possibly someone who lives in the Andalucian region) know where I could possible order one for her & then have them send it to where she lives? My other daughter here in Florida (where I live) has a beautiful crib (that she no longer needs) & everything that goes with it. She said she would be happy to give it to her sister, but I don't know how to ship it. Will it be expensive? I would relaly appreciate any feed-back from anyone who might know the answer. Thanks so much for your anticipated reply! You all helped with my trip, now maybe you can help with this.

This is strange because all of the baby furniture I saw here in the US was made in Italy. All of it, it's really strange, that must be their thing. Maybe she could try to look in stores that carry Italian furniture?

Try looking for a branch of Prenatal. There should be one in Seville. For some reason I cannot contact their website for the exact address. Maybe you could try www.prenatal.es and look for it.

you can ship the crib from Florida via the US Postal service (APO). You will have to disassemble it, and box it. Check with your local post office for any size limit on the Rota APO address (just bring them the zip code and they can look it up). It's possible you might need a couple different boxes.<BR>

Hi,<BR>Jean is right. If you check in http://www.prenatal.es , you can find their shops in Spain. They have a shop in Cadiz, at the following address :<BR>C.Cial. Bah&iacute;a Sur <BR>Avda. Ca&ntilde;o Herrero, s/n <BR>San Fernando de C&aacute;diz <BR>Tlf. 956 88 75 91<BR><BR>and two more in Sevilla :<BR>Pl. Nueva, 14 <BR>Sevilla<BR>Tlf. 95 422 35 74<BR>Ctro.Cial. "Nervion Plaza" loc. 3-B C/Luis de Morales<BR>Sevilla <BR>Tlf. 95 442 17 79 <BR><BR>I don´t know if you can buy online there, but maybe your daughter could have a look in the shop and maybe ask for a catalogue. Many times they don´t have all the products at the shops.<BR><BR>And if that doesn´t work, she can always try at "El Corte Ingl&eacute;s"<BR>http://www.elcorteingles.es/<BR><BR>Rgds, Cova<BR>

Vicki is right. You should be able to ship through the APO address and just send your other daughter's crib to her. The advanatge of shipping through the APO is that the military picks up the package here in the U.S. and you don't have to pay international postage fees.

Oh my goodness, there is beautiful baby furniture in that area. Try the Pryca Mall in Puerto or the Muebles (furniture stores). The San Fernando Mall area may have cribs as well. <BR>Shipping the crib to an FPO address (not APO) will be costly but doable.<BR>Tell her to go to the hospital on the base, go to the medical records department and talk to Maria, she will know where the best baby stuff is.<BR>Good luck.<BR>
