Danube by ferry
I understand there are ferries between Vienna and Passau that takes 2 days and can also go to Budapest. Has anyone done this or know the names of any of these ferries. Travel is from June to Sept. I have also heard of a steamer but no other info. Am not interested in cruisers like Viking or Grand Circle. Thanks.

This is the firm that offers trips between Passau, Wien and Budapest:

Nights are spent ashore in hotels.
Other firms offer local trips from Passau, Linz, Wien, etc.
The only steamer carrying passengers on the Danube is the paddle steamer SCHÖNBRUNN, built in 1913 and now run by an organisation that also runs steam trains:
