Hi, I'm looking for some help/feedback with trying to get from Dalaman to Selcuk and then back to Istanbul for a flight out. My friend and I are going on a gulet cruise next May that's being organized by some other friends, so that part is all set, but then the two of us want to see Ephesus before leaving Turkey.

We are thinking of taking a bus from Dalaman to Selcuk and are wondering about the logistics of that. About how long a trip is it, approximate cost, how often do buses run, do we need to book in advance, etc?

Also, should we stay in Selcuk or Sinice (it'll just be for one night)?

We will tour Ephesus the day after we arrive from Dalaman and then fly from Izmir to Istanbul in the evening, and then flying out to the US the next (early) morning. How long a trip is it from Selcuk/Sinice to Izmir? I think I read a post in the archives that said there's not a direct bus from Selcuk to the Izmir airport, is that correct?

And finally, any recommendations for an airport hotel in Istanbul? We will be in Istanbul for 3-4 nights before the cruise so we will have seen it so staying at the airport seems like a reasonable option since we plan on arriving late from Izmir and then have an early flight the next day.

Dalaman to Selcuk takes 5-6 hours I recommend you stay in Selcuk a night or 2 nights. If you do not have a car Do NOT go to SIRINCE because you can spend alots of time waiting a DOLMUS for your next destination. Go to Selcuk and visit ephesus, virgin mary's house and other places then take another bus to Izmir. Every hour you can find a bus to Izmir NOT airport. When you come to Izmir Bus Station you have to go to Konak for your shuttle to Airport OR take a taxi to Airport which is expensive.

Thanks very much, Sinan. I read from another source that there's no direct bus service from Dalaman to Selcuk and that we might have to change buses 2-3 times and wait hours in between buses. So that worries me a bit, because there don't seem to be any English language sites where you can check the bus schedules. Also, does it make any difference that we will be traveling from Dalaman to Selkuk on a Sunday (i.e., is bus service less frequent on Sundays)?

The best way to go to Selcuk is go to Marmaris or Fethiye (with DOLMUS)then take another BUS to Selcuk.

Yes there are many bus companies web page on the internet BUT most of them has NO ENGLISH because these companies do not sale their service from internet and they do not have any tourist service. There is NO difference between sunday and monday ot other days.
