My friend and I are travelling to the middle east and we are having a bit of a debate. He wants to end our trip in Cyprus. I am wary because I don't like big touristy resort type places and I have heard that Cyprus is a big tourist trap. Any suggestions?
Cyprus, worth it or not?

Well I worked in Cyprus for 6 months and never had any problems at all. The food is great but generally the people are not the talkable friendly type, its
just the way they are. The island is great for driving around and there is lots to see.Overall it should be a good way to end any trip or even begin it so go for it and have fun.
The extremem east of Cyprus is meant to be very tourist (around Ayai Napa) I have been three times and have yet to venture east of Larnaca. The mountains are splendid, the villages unspoilt, and contrary to the previous posting I always founf the people friendly. Stay wesy of Paphos or in the hills and you will love it. Try to do the historic stuff rather than the touristy stuff and you will be amazed at the depth of the place.
