CVG to Paris/London, which airports?

Ok, we are still trying to decide if it's worth it to fly direct RT CVG to Paris (then having to do RT on the Eurostar) or to fly CVG to London & return home from Paris.

It looks like if we fly to London, our options with Delta for changing planes are:
Detroit
Minneapolis
ATL

Air France has an option from Cincinnati to Paris to London. Then direct home from Paris.

We are doing a tour that starts & ends in London. We are adding a few days on in Paris.
So any thoughts or experiences on the airports above or the Air France option?
Thanks! (We are going the end of September)

Stay away from Atlant. It's the airport from hell and is why we now fly BA or virgin to Lond and take the Eurostar abck and forth! I do love Cinninati airport and will fly Delta if I can go thru there

The Air France flight will actually be a Delta plane.

The ideal combination of flights, IMO, would be CVG-DTW-LHR/CDG-CVG.

Really, so ATL is the nightmare airport. I was thinking Detroit. I've never been to that airport. So you think changing in DTW would be better vs the option of Air France changing in Paris to London?
Do you know if you can use Delta skymiles on Air France?

Detroit might be the best airport in the US. More importantly, it is relatively underutilized, so connecting there is relatively painless. It is big, but there is a train which helps cut the distances. A very nice airport. It used to be awful, but that was before the new facilities were built.

Changing in Detroit will be much better than changing at CDG, and I say this as one of the few people that doesn't really mind CDG as an airport.

What is the question about using the miles? Are you looking to redeem miles for a ticket, or do you want to earn miles? For redemptions, yes, you can redeem on Air France, provided there is availability. For earning, you can generally earn, but there are a few fare classes that don't earn Delta miles - L & N are the most common ones.

For the most part, though, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to just book this using Delta flight numbers for the entire trip, as all of the planes will be Delta planes. For future reference, as long as the flight numbers says DLxxxx you should earn miles, even if the flight is operated by Air France.

If you aren't sure how to find the fare code, post dates and prices and someone can look it up for you.

Thank You, I'm glad I asked. I really didn't know what to think of DTW.
It's a shorter flight there from CVG vs the other connections Delta offers anyway, so that's a plus as well!

The question was on the Air France option. Air France flies CVG-CDG-LHR, so I didn't know since it's a Delta partner if you could use & earn skymiles, but it doesn't sound like changing in CDG is a good option anyway.
In that case I can just book with Delta directly.
I don't have the skymiles to earn a free ticket, but I would like to use skymiles & amex points to pay towards a ticket.
I will look at the fare codes, thanks for that info!
