Cruise and additional week in Sept 2013

Jump to last reply

We are going to Italy Sept 6 through 27. We decided on the cruise (though not always my favorite way to go) as we wanted to hit Athens and Dubrovnik. Plus Carnival has been having some screaming deals.
This is our 20th wedding anniversary and both of our 50th birthdays.
I keep reading about the different tours, making sure we get back to port on time, etc. However after other cruises we have taken, we are less than thrilled with taking any tours through the cruise ship.
Not sure what to do in Izmar Turkey, Messina, Sicily, Naples, Livorna, and Marseilles, France.
The only one we have purchased is getting a 5 hour tour in Barcelona and getting to the airport. As when booked through the cruise we are assured of getting off the ship as quickly as possible (we will see) and taking care of the luggage and getting us to the airport.
So suggestions with any links or ways to go about it are greatly appreciated.
