Croatia (Istria), Slovenia, and Italy - how to arrange the itinerary

Jump to last reply

We have two weeks in July 2012. Arrive Ljubljana 16:25 on a Wednesday and depart Milan two weeks later on Tuesday.

I'm thinking three nights Ljubljana with a day trip to Lake Bled.

Then bus to Rovinj - I 'think' there is a bus that leaves Ljubljana around 1 or 2 pm and gets to Rovinj at 19:15. Is one full day/two nights enough or should we add another day here? We won't have a car so not sure if it's feasible to go anywhere else in the region. Suggestions?

Then to Italy - apparently there are several ferries to Venice in season but the schedules are not on the websites yet. I think they leave very early in the morning. Or bus to Trieste?

We will rent a car once we get to Italy. We will have 7 or 8 days (depending on how many we spend in Coratia) and my only 'must sees' for this trip are San Marino, Urbino, Ferrara, and Parma. We need to be in Milan on Monday night (July 9) as my husband has an early flight Tuesday back home (I get to continue on with part 2 of my vacation!).

So - suggestions for how long in each of these places, other places to include, etc.
