Croatia and Slovenia maps
My husband and I will be driving extensively in Croatia and Slovenia in May 2011. Would anyone who has done so suggest a really good map for driving? Also, we would welcome suggestions for apartments in Rovinj, Split and Dubrovnik. Only those you have actually staying in and liked please. Thanks!

Get a Garmin. You can get one with up to date maps of all Europe and North America for about 200 dollars. Ours worked perfectly in both countries and even included gas station, grocery store, and parking deck locations. We had a paper map but never had to open it, even driving in the back country.
But AAA will sell you a good road map of any country.

We bought a map for our second visit to Croatia. It is labelled freytag&berndt 1:200 000 www.freytagberndt.com
We found it very useful, on that trip we flew into Trieste in Italy, drove to Piran in Slovenia where we stayed, then on to Rovinj which we loved and drove then to Opatija on the other side of the Croatian coast. We flew back out of Trieste.
Here are the websites for the apartments we stayed at in Rovinj and Dubrovnik. We liked them both.

We stayed in Apartment 3 Porta Antica but had actually booked a cheaper apartment. Because it was off-season they gave us a nicer place for no extra charge. The views were wonderful.

I think it was Amoret 1 we stayed in, we had a view of the Cathedral and the square from our windows.
