We (a 60's couple but seasoned travellers) are heading back to the Greek islands for four weeks in May having visited Sifnos, Paros, Antiparos, Santorini and Rhodes on previous trips (and loved them all!)
This time we'll spend over 2 weeks in Crete, then 6 days in Naxos and are looking for another wonderful place to visit on the way back to Rafina/Piraeus.
We like traditional Greece, good food(!), ancient sites and beaches and usually hire a car to get beyond the main towns.
I've been investigating Tinos and Syros... I'd love some advice about these islands or others on the way - or would we be better to spend a little more time on Crete and Naxos and just head straight back to the mainland from there.
Crete, Naxos and what other island?

Hello yeshekathy,
Staying longer in your two lovely island choices is always a nice idea...., or another island you might really enjoy is Folegandros. You would make a nice fit between Crete and Naxos. Investigate the ferry schedules to see if it will work for you.
Syros and Tinos are both wonderful islands..

Syros has a Ermoupolis, the main town and capital of the Cyclades that is in a way similar to Nafplio....
There is also a medieval neighbourhood with whitewashed houses...
Tinos receives mostly Greek visitors and has nothing in common with the neighbouring Mykonos.
It has many very picturesque villages and is still a typical Greek island, as many others were in the past
I love both of them ...
I think Tinos and Syros would be good choices, far more Greek than other islands which are overwhelmed with foreign tourists.
