Crazy fares showing on Kayak for Alitalia September Travel

I'm seeing fares for the first week of September in business for $444. Is it real?

I got the same thing for Oct/Nov. The $444 on Kayak are all from Alitalia. I followed the link for booking and it worked! "Magnifica" class.

Go for it...quick!

The flights I looked at for March are code share flights with continental and air france, so do you really get to sit in Business??

My ""buy" page at Alitalia shows round trip JFK/Rome, Magnifica Class, Oct 31-Nov12, $444. It also says:

This ticket is refundable and can be changed.
Your selected fare: Business Freedom.
Reimbursement: allowed with no penalty
Booking change: allowed with no penalty

Ok, this is killing me!
I just bought my non-refundable tickets yesterday for $835 and thought I got a great deal because everything I was looking at was over $1000 for my dates!
Good luck to everyone!

Just spoke to an Alitalia agent on the phone. Said she was very sorry but it's a problem with the internet and if I buy it, she can't guarantee it.

I looked at Kayak as well for flights out of DFW. It's not nonstop as you have to fly to Atlanta and then on to Rome (FCO - I didn't know there were 2 airports in Rome - FCO and CIA - , so I don't know which one is more desireable). You fly business for the whole journey over to Rome, but coming back you're in coach (landing in Newark), then back in Business class from there to DFW. Roundtrip cost is $458! (leaving Aug 31 - Friday - and returning Sept 9 which is a Sunday).

Alitalia site now says "Unavailable momentarily".

Kristina: I just bought mine last week. At least I don't have to spend a miserable day excoriating myself for not waiting!

As they say, "If it looks too good to be true....".

I was thinking the same thing about having "an early warning system". I wonder if anyone was able to slip in and purchase the ticket before they realized the error?

I've booked Japan for September, HOWEVER, they (Alitalia) will go bancrupt soon if the yesterdays rumours (We'll be selling it to anybody who wants it for an euro, even the eskimos", No more financial aids!) are correct. I do hope they stay in business. Just be aware it may not be as inexpensive as it looks!!!

I too am going to Japan (in October) so probably can't partake in these fares even if they are legit, but just out of curiousity I checked it out and sure enough a flight from CLT to FCO is coming up $456 on Alitalia!

Could be a ploy for a quick shot of revenue and then they'll go belly-up anyway!

It sounds as if the Italian government is trying to juice the numbers to get someone to buy the airline.

Buy the tickets if you can, but make sure you check back often to see if the flight is still scheduled and the airline is still in business.
