I'd like to end a trip to London with my 13-year old daughter at a country manor-type of hotel unlike anything she's every experienced here in the States. We have 2 nights to spend -- she'd like to do a day trip during that time to Cardiff (she's a Dr. Who fan!) and then we'll fly out of Heathrow on the 3rd day. Something between London and Cardiff would be ideal -- if not midway, I'd prefer closer to Heathrow to take the stress out of leaving. I've had some wonderful suggestions near London, but am willing to branch out a little. I'm willing to spend $500-700 a night.
Quite a few places I've researched have restrictions in the dining rooms, pools, etc. for children under 16, so I've excluded them. I am currently looking at Pennyhill Park outside London and Limewood in New Forest, but am concerned the latter may be difficult to get to and from. Other suggestions???

Limewood looks nice - might book there myself.
You can get to Ashurst New Forest station from Waterloo in about 90 minutes or 2 hours if you change at Southampton (note there is an Ashurst Kent also - wrong direction). check thetrainline.com for details. It's about 2.5 miles from the hotel but I can't imagine there will be many taxis - perhaps the hotel has a pick up service. To drive from Heathrow would take about 90 minutes (?).
Will you have a car? If so, Limewood is easy to get to. And if not, it would be easy to ask the hotel to send a taxi for you. The New Forest is an area well used to tourists visiting by train for the weekend.
