counting the days to the next trip...
I am the only one?
If a trip is coming nearer, I am starting to count the days left until leaving (to be honest I do this from the day I book the tickets)...
I am like a child waiting for christmas and can not wait until the day(!)is there, and then I am so exited!
What to do to make the waiting time short?
I am planning, arranging, reading about the destination..like I have no other things to do...
What do you do?

No, you are not the only one. I do this from the day I book as well. As the date draws nearer, I think about it more and more. When I get within about 30 days of departure, it becomes the first thought to enter my head when I wake up and the last thought I have before going to sleep.
I don't know how to make the time short, I have a problem with that too. Sometimes I wish for a fast-forward button on life so I can go straight to that date. But then I remind myself that of all things to wish away, do not wish away time.

Sadly enough, I find myself imagining minute details of my first day or two. For example, I ruminate on whether to eat a big breakfast or get going early. Eventually, I end up planning every second of the first day. I'm saved from insanity by my wife, who imposes balance and most of my plans are abandoned. It's this anticipatory focus that I find so enjoyable. I've learned that it's wise to avoid discussing this with my wife.

I have a countdown clock on my computer (360 days, 1 hour & 51 minutes until I leave!) And when it gets to within a week of the vacation, I start thinking "a week from right now I'll be on the plane" or "next week at this time I'll be in London."

A little over five weeks till I leave and it's hard to wait. However, I also want to lose 5 pounds and learn more italian, and finish reading 2 more books (Death in Venice and Italy Fever. Just finished Brunelleschi's Dome) and compile guidebooks and make reservations for the scavi tour in rome and .... You get the picture
