Cote D'azur
My husband and I are going to the Cote D'azur in september and are going to be based in Nice and take day trips to other places. Is St Tropez worth a stay? I know it's too far for a day trip. Any information would be helpful.
Thank you

I think that St Tropez is very much worth a stay. It is a pretty unique place and it takes a day of walking around to discover it. Don't miss the incredible yachts in the marina. Take a harbor cruise. Make reservations for hotel well ahead of time. The traffic between Nice and St Tropez will be horrible, unless it is raining.
If you plan a day to get there you can take your time and stop in some of the towns along the way.
Just my observations..others may have more to add.

It's perfectly feasible as a day trip.To avoid traffic and parking, there are boats from St Raphael and Ste Maxime. I can dig up the phone numbers. A very nice hotel near San Tropez is the Chateau Valmer in La Croix Valmer, a little to the west.

I totally agree that it is feasible as a day trip.....as long as the traffic (both ways) is not bad. I have taken and hour to go 2 miles on this road.
I have not used the boats but that sounds like a great alternative.

Hello- I live on the coast, about 15 mins.from St.Tropez. Yes, you can easily do it in a day. If you have the time and Euros, there are some beautiful hotels, like the other post recommended, at the Croix Valmer. The hotel Chateau Valmer is on Gigaro Beach. Vinyards, palm trees on the ocean-you can see it in this site: look for the link http://www.la-cabane-perchee.com/web/site_fr.html
This is very UPscale. )Try to see St.Tropez on a Tuesday or Saturday-these are market days. Traffic shouldn't be too bad in September if you prefer to drive. It is only 1 hour 30 mins (max) from NICE. There are other interesting villages to see very close by:GASSIN, GRIMAUD and RAMATUELLE-
