Costa Del Sol at the end of May
Hi Fodorites,
IS it warm enough at the end of May at Costa del Sol? I understand that each year is different, but in general is May a good season there? Where would you recommend to stay? we like nice sandy beach, and cute town. Thanks in advance

What is warm enough? I mean, end of May is not the main beaching time for that area, but it certainly won't be cold.
Nerja is a beautiful beachtown and if you are just in it for the beach, I say go there. I have never stayed over night, but I loved visiting it for relaxing.

We've been there at the end of April and the daily high was 75/80 and people were using the hotel pool. Since it routinely gets to 100+ in midsummer I can;t imagine end of May is too cold for anything.

If you are in Malaga or around there, the water is never really warm, as it gets that Atlantic current. When I am there in August, which is definitely the hottest time, I rarely can stay in for that long. However, you should for sure be able to go to the beach and get some sun and get in the water a bit.
When I say not that warm, btw, I am comparing it to the Mediterranean around Alicante where the water can get downright soupy warm.

Again - it depends on what you mean by warm. In May we found the sea very warm - but in comparison to the North Atlantic. If you mean Florida in the summer warm - I don't think so - but then I don;t like being boiled - to me water is to cool off in.
