My family and I (3 people) will be travelling (roundtrip) from Bonn to Munich. I had intended to take the train but am having trouble getting a price from the DeutscheBahn website.
Can someone give me a ballpark figure on cost? (1st/2nd)
thanks,
steve

Steve,
I just checked the Bahn.de website for you, with a little practice it is not too hard to figure out. I recently purchased our tickets for Venice to Munich there and had no problems. I also priced our other German rail trips (point to point) to compare with purchasing a German Railpass instead. So I've had some practice !
To answer your question: i used hypothetical dates of 6/21 return 6/25 and found 369 Euro for 3 adults 1st class, 276.70 Euro for 2 adults/1 child in 1st class, 244.50 Euro for 3 adults 2nd class, and 183.35 Euro for 2 adults/1 child 2nd class. All are round trip fares. Its a little tricky to price but DeutscheBahn gives discounts for round trip, also family discounts (first adult pays full fare each adult after pays half fare, children 14 and under are free) and even a weekend discount. but worth it to plug in all information to see the price come down! Try it out again with your actual dates, ages, times, etc. Good luck!
u might want to check out flights! there are cheap flights regionally through Germany especially with Deutsche Ba
swb,
As mentioned by fireguy9, flying could very well be almost as cheap as taking the train, as this is quite a competitive route, served by 2 low fare airlines (Germanwings and DBA).
The cheapest round trip fare on DBA is just under EUR 95 per person all in!
The train journey involves at least 1 change and take 5 to 5.5 hours.

Steve- don't know why you are having trouble with the DB website, but erg45 gives good advice and you can now order tickets on-line. German Wings has about 5 flights/day from Cologne-Bonn airport to Munich for prices ranging from 13 to 60E per person. Most flights cost only 20E
