Cost of a private guide in prague

If one ( for four people) investigating having a private guide in prague to streamline time, what are decent rates per hour? I never see this ever discussed. I would like to know what is the going price. What is reasonable. It may even be worthwhile under some circumstances. Thankyou Jack Glasser

Hello JG:

If this will help, we were in Prague in late December and paid about $120 for three hours of touring in a comfortable sedan with an English speaking driver as a guide. We were three persons and this amount does not include tip.

Sounds terrific. We are four people. Could you give more specifics. Would seriously consider this. Jack

When we visited Prague last year, we took a 2-hour private walking tour offered by Prague Guide, www.prague-guide.info. The price was 600 CZK/hour for a group of 2-3 people. The exchange rate then was about 15 Czk to the dollar. The tour was informative and interesting, and focused on "Revolutions in Prague," with sites throughout the Old Quarter. We're not usually tour-taking people, but we enjoyed this one, primarily because of the personal perspective we gained about life under Communism.

Sounds very reasonable: 30 dollars an hour walking, 40 dollars an hour by car.

The guide is George Unger, a very pleasant gent and highly knowledgeable of the city. You can reach him at:
