Corsica: Are Via Michelin's drive times accurate?

Hi,
Have you found that Via Michelin estimates an accurate drive time in Corsica?
For instance, from Bonifacio to Piana...3 hrs and 21 min.
Or, Calvi to Corte, 1 hr. 47 min.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

We were in Corsica last month staying in Saint Florent. I just plotted a few different routes we drove on Via Michelin and I would have to say no....the estimates are optimistic, and we're not slow drivers by any means. For example, they estimate 27 minutes for the route we drove from Saint Florent to Bastia and it took us 45 minutes (and we drove it twice).

The roads (other than a few main highways) can be really windy..but fun to drive! We loved Corsica - here are links to our blog postings

Happy to answer any other questions about Corsica if I can.

Can't speak to Corsica, but for many trips on the Continent I've found Michelin times to be optimistic at best.

I prefer www.mappy.com. Their driving times are more in line with my own.

I would also add that we were there in the off off season - apparently the driving can be really slow in peak season....when are you planning to go?

CtSirq, Thanks for that link...I'll check it out against Michelin.

ElizabethS: Thanks for those restaurant links....that food looks amazing! Where are you staying in St. Florent....we're going in Sept. and I decided to stay in Oletta because I couldn't find a good place available in St. Florent. I really wanted to drive the Cap Corse, but don't think I have the time (only 2 weeks and we're starting and ending in Bonifacio)...but it looks lovely...even in off off season! Thanks for comparing your drive times to Michelin...sounds like I need to almost double the drive time.

I remember communicating with you several years ago about our Galapagos trip.
Please recommend anything else you think of for Corsica!
