Copenhagen's Christiana Bulldozed?

A recent post said that Copenhagen's famed Christiana has been cleared out awaiting developing of upscale condos on this prime land in the city center with lots of waterfront land that hippie squattors had taken over in the early 1970s - occupying a disused military base and have been there ever since - developing many businesses and even some restaurants that were highly acclaimed. They also sold cannibas openly from stalls on "Pusher Street" - so is this social experiment - the so-called Free City of Christiana history so still surviving. It recently was called Copenhagen's number two most visited tourist site after Tivoli, not far away. Say it ain't true!

Wouldn't this page say something if that's true?

http://www.christiania.org/main/lan.php?lan=gb

My bus to the opera house passed by one entrance of the site. I took a very quick glance and I didn't notice anything unusual. There were a few people who got off at that stop.

This was during the last week of May.

Somehow I'm guessing that if the site is bulldozed then someone would've posted something on the website.

When I type Christiania in news.google.com I don't see anything either.

I'd think that if it's been bulldozed, some article would have shown up somwhere.

All i had to go on was when someone asked recently about what to see in Copenhagen and i replied with blah blah about Christiana, one person replied that her brother, or some friend, etc., was just there a few months back and it had been cleared. Sounded pretty possible - or do people at times fabricate these things??

That I don't know. I'm just making some educated guesses.

There must be someone from Denmark who reads this forum.

Another simple way is to call the Danish tourist office in Copenhagen, say if you really want to know.

Well, this page from the Web site mentioned above obviously thinks that razing Christiania is a possibility:

http://www.christiania.org/~befri/engelsk.htm

And this article says that "Pusher Street" has been closed down:
