Copenhagen sights and day trips
Okay,I think I have finally found an apt and now have to arrange sights to see around Copenhagen and short trips. We are there 1 week beginning 11/19. Please help with your favorite sights to see and possible day trips (rent a car?). Without being greedy, maybe your favorite medium priced restaurants also. Thank you

Here are a couple of articles about interesting things to do in Copenhagen:

Christmas festivities start relatively early in this part of the world so you should be able to catch some markets or Christmas events at the end of November (Nyhavn Christmas market starts Nov. 17) - here is a summary of Christmas happenings in Copenhagen: http://neuropetravel.suite101.com/ar..._in_copenhagen

The castles are definite must sees in my opinion. Kronborg is the more famous, and a UNESCO site. It's very easy to get to on the train. Fredericksborg is more beautiful though. Also very easy on the train. In fact I did both in one day easily. However it is that they figure the price of their train tickets, it turned out to be no more expensive than just going to one, and doing both on one day saved one train trip. The town that Kronborg is in is quite cute and worth an hour or so. You could also take the ferry from there across to Sweden (short crossing). I didn't do that though so can't tell you if it's worthwhile, but lots of people do it to get a taste of Sweden.
Roskilde is another day trip, although the cathedrale was under scaffolding as recently as this summer is that makes a difference to you (I doubt it's finished yet).
Good luck finding a "medium" priced restaurant.

If you're a beer aficionado, you would probably enjoy touring the Carlsberg Brewery (have a glass of Special Export on your way out - and be prepared for a period of leglessness).
The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde is a must-see. Twenty minutes by train from Copenhagen.

For an urban day getaway, take the train across the spectacular Oresund Bridge to Malmo, Sweden. It's a really unique city in its own right, probably worth a couple of days, but it's an easy day trip by train.

Stlmjay, sorry for hijacking your thread, but would it be possible for you to provide some details on how you found your apartment? I've looked on VBRO and found two apt booking sites but haven't heard of anyone with firsthand experience renting an apt in Copenhagen. TIA.

Hi PegS, 2 sites to try: hay4you.dk and therightvactionrental.com
The whole experience was somewhat of a hassle. I will be leaving in a couple of weeks. I will post after I go to let you know how it all worked out.
