Title self explanatory-- I will like to travel back/forth from Monaco (Old Town or Monte Carlo Casino) to Nice (around Cours Saleya area or even Beach Promenade) using public transport. What do you recommend? Thanks!
Confused...How do I get from Monaco to Nice? Please recommend.

You can go by bus or train. The bus station will be closer to
the beach than the train, but the train is no problem. There is a tram one short block away that will take you straight down to the beach and old town.
Truthfully, I had gathered that much-- public transport refers to bus or train. My question is...how?; i.e. where is are the best stops, Number bus or number train, best pick up/drop off. When you say "There is a tram one short block away...."... short block away from where? to where?
The tram is a block away from the Nice Ville train station. As stated above, the tram will take you to Cours Saleya or to the beach promenade and many other stops. I have traveled several times by train, but only once by bus. I do not remember the bus number. The staff at your hotel will tell you the locations of the bus stops and probably will have the bus numbers you need.
I am more confused....I gather you recommend take a train from Old Town Monaco (...or from Monte Carlo?) which should drop you off at the Nice Ville train station. From there, hop on a TRAM that should take you to Cours Saleya or beach promenade....right?
There is only one train station... in Monte Carlo. It is a very nice station. You will need to take a bus or taxi to the station or walk. And actually you may prefer to take the taxi all the way to Nice.
And back to the tram-I would get off at the Massena stop. It will only take a couple of minutes. You can walk the promenade then on to the Cours Saleya.
Bus is No.100. Ticket costs €1. You can go all the way to the bus terminal, La Gare Routière. Then the Old Town is just across the tram street away. Market Cours Saleya 5 minute walk. The beach is just behind the Cours Saleya.
Take a look at a map (google map or any). You will see.
There is no tram that takes you to direct to Cours Saleya. The closest you can get is 5 minute walk to Cours and the beach. Not far but just for the record.
Possible problem for taking a bus No100 in Monaco is, this is a line between Menton and Nice and often the bus is full enough there may be only standing space when you get on. But the view is good, running most of the time along the coast, better than train. For that and for the dirt cheap ticket, I usually take bus for that route. It taker longer than the train but as I said the view is better and you will arrive in the middle of Nice.
GOT IT; MANY, MANY THANKS YOU GUYS!!!
N0.100 is frequent. About 4 per hour during the day.

The train stations at BOTH Monaco and Nice are WAY up the hills.
The last time I was in Nice was 14 yeas ago, I was just wondeing if they are still offering helicopter rides between Nice and Monaco? I remember it being fun and exciting!
Thanks Greg for the link, very helpful indeed.
Cafegoddess - they were 3 or 4 years ago. I surprised my daughter with a flight from Monaco back to Nice.
I remember once we were "stuck" in MonteCarlo because it seemed all the busses and trains had stopped running for the night. We finally made our way to a local hotel where the front desk person was kind enough to call us a cab and we took it back to Nice.
Amazingly enough it did NOT send us to the poor house, we are still eating regularly, we even have enough money to buy a DVD peridically and it was memorable for all the right reasons including being able to tell about it on this thread.
Thanks CarrieAnn. I think I will suprise my husband. Three more days!
