complaint about euro railways
I recently bought a train ticket from Euro railways. The ticket was for a night train from Paris - Venice. On the website, the T4 compartment I chose was listed as first class. When I received the ticket, it was clearly marked second class. I complained and sent the ticket back with documentation stating that I expected a full refund. They refunded about $300 of a $474 ticket. Unfortunately their "24 hour support" does not include the possibility of speaking to a real person. Any ideas about how to get my money back or make a formal complaint? We have tried e-mailing and calling, but the company does not return our messages.
I could kick myself for not looking more extensively at the different websites. I bought two tickets in a first class double through Rail Europe for the same price as my old ticket.
Please don't buy your tickets from Eurorailways!! They are unethical.

You bought it was a credit card, righty. Initiate a complaint with the credit card company and ask for a charge back to the merchant. Depending on which bank issued your credit card, you might get full cooperation from them or they may say tough noogies but it's a start.

We use raileurope when possible for just this reason. So far no problems and I haven't find the price differential worth the hassle and risk of booking directly on many of the lines. That said, I use Trenitalia with no issues either.

Most people won't because they charge full price for tickets and don't have the cheaper offers that booking thorugh the local website would bring
Raileurope, for exmaple, charges seat reservation fees on trains that don't have seat reservations

I called the number on their web site and a voice indicates the their "call center is assisting other callers".
They're about 30 minutes from me. I'm tempted to drive over there and see what kind of operation they're running with no people.

I have always either booked directly or used RailEurope. (A few years ago in spite of all the complaints on here, I saved a lot of money using RailEurope over Eurostar for example, pays to check and not assume the anti RailEurope posters are always right )

Do not recommend doing business with this company. Refunds on strike cancels never happen. They are a middleman; not a legit train company in Euro. STAY AWAY. Good luck trying to get a refund thru your credit card company. Still working on that refund after a year of paperwork. STAY AWAY.

Can you give an example of this - may have been a one-time error but not general policy - what trains are you talking about?

Euro Railways, Rail Europe. Same company, STAY AWAY!!!>
No they are NOT the same company so saying they aree IMO is just irresponsible - Euro Railways may well work thru RailEurope as many railpass and rail ticket selling agencies do - like Rick Steves, AAA Travel probably, Budget Europe Travel and even good ole www.seat61.com, whose site has a direct commercial link to Rail Europe.

Agree with you Palatino82. EURO RAILWAYS.COM. Appalling customer service, arrogant staff, zero consideration to online and international travellers, poor value for money, worst travel experience ever!

So you after seeing the compartment decided to use it to get to Venice, right and now you are claiming a full refund - well if you had not decided to continue with the train trip after seeing the compartment I would agree with you but the agent refunded $300 of a $474 ticket - presumably the difference between first and second class travel
You used the train and now you think you should not have to pay a dime?
You were lucky IMO to get a $300 refund in the first place. Incroyable!
