Coastal Trip To ??
Our last two trips took us to Croatia and we drove the coast from Rovinj to Dubrovnik for two weeks, a really great trip. Before that we traveled Ireland by car for over 2 weeks, this was my wife's favorite trip, Croatia was mine, and before that we traveled around Scotland, Isle of Skye and a lot of castles. We are looking for a coastal trip, any country, that we can do by car. Italy, Greece, Spain come to mind. We would like some ideas on trips you have taken and enjoyed. We are in late 50's, will fly out of ATL, enjoy taking our time, warm weather, and driving and enjoying local food and wine. We can go anytime but prefer late spring or early fall. Where would you go???

Sicily is definitely worth considering for your trip. Easy to drive, much costline (and internal sights, don't miss Piazza Amerina) to be found and food and wine galore. Late Spring or early Fall/Autumn are great times to visit as it's warm (not steaming hot) and the crowds of Summer aren't there. I spent two weeks travelling around one January and only needed a light jacket at night, days were t-shirt weather. Divine!

I apologize for derailing this thread, but I'm curious about your screen name. I live east of Gander, and drove from Ljubljana to Split in July 2011. However, if you're living in Georgia, perhaps the "newfie" is some kind of joke??

Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica.
Coastline, coastline and more coastline.
The northern coast of Spain / Bay of Biscay would be different; Bayonne. Biarritz, Saint Sebastian, Bilbao and then the smaller towns westward all the way to Portugal.

Brittany maybe, or Cornwall or Norway.
Or for a different type of coast what about the Wadden coast of the North Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. Visit the islands, enjoy the bird life, walk on the Wad.

We've enjoyed Portugal especially the northern sections, Northern Spain..Ssturias, Cantabria, Pais Vasco and Costa Brava north of Barcelona, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, all of Greece. We prefer coastal visits but try and plan to do cruise ship avoidance as a large ship in port can ruin your visits.

Hi NF,
>Where would you go??? <
Starting in Rouen, FR, head SB through Bordeaux to San Sebastian, Spain, across the northern coast of Spain to Santiago de Campostela, down the coast of Portugal, through the Strait of Gibralter, along the Mediterranean coasts of Spain and France to Monaco.
That should keep you busy for a while.
