Climbing the stairs in Meteora

We're planning a trip to mainland Greece and definitely want to experience the monasterys in Meteora. Although I have a bit of difficulty with stairs, I don't want to miss out on anything! Can anyone tell me if the climb to the monasterys is extremely steep? We won't be in a hurry, so if the steps are not high and not too steep, I should be alright. Is it possible to drive to the top of any of them? Also, any suggestions as to where to stay?
Thanks!

I'm interested in this question as well. Are any of the monasteries reached by ladder, rather than stairs, and do the stairs have railings?

Thanks!

One of the best places to find information on all things Greek is here: http://www.greecetravel.com/meteora/monasteries.html

Matt Barrett knows what he is talking about. I've compared some of his information to information well known to me personally and he's got it right every time.

Here are a couple of videos:

Wow! Thanks so much for the youtube links. If overweight women in high heels can do it, so can I!!! LOL! Good to know there are places to stop and rest on the way.
