Civitavecchia to Rome?
Any suggestions on best way for 4 or us to travel into Rome after our cruise. Also has anyone stayed at the River Chateau Hotel in Rome, it looks great but is not in city center.

We took a limo type service for 2 couples. It was no hastle way to make the trip which took close to an hour. We arranged it through our hotel in advance and splitting the cost made it a little cheaper. You can also take the train from Civitavecchia to Rome but some of the posts at the time indicated trains weren't always reliable plus you need cabs to/from train stations. Bob

Going from Rome to Civitavecchia, we took the train. I don't remember any problems. There was some lugging of the cases at Civitavecchia but the cruise line should be able to help with transportation.
I would imagine that the cruise can arrange for a cab/ car. The cruise may have a bus arranged (it would make sense).

Hi-
Best way from Civettevecchia to Rome is
via a private car service..
We have used [email protected]
Email Andrea and give him your disembarkation time and the time you want your driver there..
The price is just about the same as the cruise line BUS and way more convenient-
they pick you up in an AC Mercedes and the drive is a pleasure..
WE have used this company for years...

I think it was about $120- 130..for everyone..It is wayyyyyyyyyyy cheaper than taking the cruise ship transport into Rome ( which they usually offer)..
They pick you up in a Mercedes Station wagon, so there is a lot of room for your luggage..
Much nicer than being squeezed into a bus for the tail end of your cruise..
Door to Door service...and air conditioned with a English speaking driver...
