Cinque Terre or More Tuscan Villages?

Jump to last reply

We are flying into Pisa on September 30. On October 6, we will take the train from Florence to Venice. From October 1 - 6, we will spend in Tuscany.

We would like to visit several villages: Bagni di Lucca, Castiglione di Garfagnana, San Gimignano, Pienza, Montalcino, Castiglione d'Orcia, Montepulciano, Saturnia, Pitigliano, Montemerano, Populonia, Ansedonia, Magliano di Toscani.

I'd love to hear which villages should not be missed. which villages can be visited in the same day. what the best driving route would be. any recommendations for places to stay.

i've already been to siena and florence so i want to focus on smaller villages this trip.

Do you recommend doing a day trip to Cinque Terre before driving into Tuscany?

We arrive September 30 in Pisa and I'm thinking of getting a room near the airport and then driving to Cinque Terre the next morning, spending the day there, and then driving back to Pisa to spend the night there.

Then heading to Tuscany the next morning (October 2). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

best,
ko
