Cinque Terre- Manarola to Corniglia?
We will walk from Riomaggiore to Manarola. But, we're not sure about Manarola to Corniglia. DH has had a brain aneurysm, and while he's fine, he has a bit of trouble with walking that requires finer motor skills. The walk itself is not the problem, it's the technique that's the problem.
At any rate, I'm not asking you to tell me whether or not you think we ought to make that part of the trip (though if you have suggestions, let me know), but my main question is if we end up taking the train to Corniglia, will we be only met with miles of stairs, or is there a bus to take us to the top (and back)? I've read there's quite a trek up the stairs, but I though somewhere I had read that there might be a bus. Any thoughts?
Thanks, annieladd

As I remember this particulara hike, it was steep and it is quite a trek to the top. There wee no buses, but you can take the train to all the towns and walk as little or as much as you want. This walk wwould not be worth it if there are problems with motor skills. This trip can be lots of fun, and the trains are wonderful. Have fun. Martha

annieladd, there is, in fact, a shuttle bus from the bottom of Corniglia (at the RR) to the top (center of town.) You do need to ask about it, though...it's really sort of unadvertised, for some reason. The locals use it regularly, and it runs frequently.
My husband and I were in CT about nine months ago, and we did the stairs several times with no problem. But we did use the bus one night when we had dinner reservations in Corniglia and were in a bit of a rush after taking the train from Manarola to the Corniglia rr
Corniglia is so lovely, I'd hate for you to be deterred because of those legendary stairs!

Another reference to the shuttle bus on the Virtual Tourist site:

Google: shuttle bus Corniglia, and you'll get more.
Enjoy!

You can also walk up the road from the train station at Corniglia to the village at the top of the hill. We did that to avoid the stairs, the road is paved with a gentle rise the whole way. There was supposed to be a little mini van but it never turned up.
