Hi
We have to change our point of entry in Italy , instead of in by Venice and out of Rome ,we will get in by Rome and out by Venice. My question is if we go from Rome to Tuscany ( stay in San Miniato as rec in this forum ) then drive to Cing Terre ( stay 2 or 3 nights) , where can we stay outside of CT as base ? do we drop the car at La Spezia , took train to stay at one of the village then go back to La Spezia after our stay to collect again car cause we will drive to Milan or we keep the car during our stay and stay where to visit CT ? is it ok if we drive from San Miniato to Levanto as base for CT then drive to Milan or drive from San Miniato to Riomaggiore and stay there ( have to find a hotel with free parking) then drive to Milan?
Sorry im a little confused!
Thanks for your help

Loan,
Do you have places you want to stop along the way (between San Miniato and the Cinque Terre) that require a car?
You don't need a car for the trip after Tuscany from what you say and you would be better off dropping it somewhere convenient to your Tuscany base, then go from there by train. You don't want a car in Cinque Terre or in Milan.
If you want to stay somewhere drivable and keep your car, we stayed in Santa Margherita Ligure just north of the 5 villages and just loved it. It's about 50 minutes to Riomaggore from SML by train, that is the furthest south of the 5 villages. We also did a day trip to Portofino from SML, just 10 minutes by boat.
We also have enjoyed oir trips tp Santa Margherita Ligure. However, for the Cinque Terre, if you stay in Monterosso, rhere is a large paeking lot in town.
yes we would like to stop at Pisa from San Miniato to CT and from Milan we would like to drive to Venice so we figure a car would give us the liberty of stopping where ever we want to stop
So i have the option staying at Santa Margherita to visit CT or Monterosso ( you have to pay for the parking lot in town ,right?)
Are there any more suggestions?
Thanks a lot
