Christmas windows in Paris 2016

It's that time of year again, so anybody coming to Paris for the holiday season should be sure to come to the department stores on Boulevard Haussmann to see the animated windows.

As usual, Galeries Lafayette was more daring and less cuddly. It has chosen polar bears made of paper as its theme -- children in 10 years might not even know what a polar bear was or have ever heard of the ice cap, so it's now or never.

Printemps is more traditional and more commercial -- but also a lot more colorful than its competitor, so it is sure to get votes for that.

Gorgeous windows (and nice choice of music to your videos kerouac). I've been kinda waiting for your thread because last year your similar thread made me go to Galeries Lafayette to see the things with my own eyes

Thanks Kerouac. I was hoping you would post this. Even though I will be there to see it for myself in 30 days, the preview is welcome!

Neat! How long are the displays left up? In Paris on January 5.

Thanks. These were wonderful, and I loved the polar bears which were absolutely amazing. Christmas in Paris via YouTube. Well, better than nothing.

I went to see the windows this thursday - I loved the polar bears. I was there at 9 am - before opening time I guess - nobody was clogging the view.

I suspect that Sunday January 3rd will be the last day.

Fantastic and the music is spot on.
Never been to Paris over the holidays but through your videos we can pretend we are there.
Thanks for posting.

Actually, most of the windows have their own musical themes, but there is so much traffic and crowd noise that the only way to make the video acceptable is to replace the soundtrack.

You replaced it well. It's in perfect coordination with the feeling of the theme.

Thanks ever so much Kerouac - these are wonderful!

It was your post of Christmas windows that motivated me to get going and I managed to visit Paris (along with my eldest son) for a few days in December 2014.

We were just talking about it today as we did our shopping in 36C heat here in South Australia.
Yesterday it was 33C and the annual Alliance Française market was held - quite a challenge in the heat but we persevered.

One day we will return so thank you again.

The intricasies of their decorations amazes me. Looking forward to seeing it in person next month. Thanks for an advance preview.

Kerouac, thanks for again sharing the Paris Christmas decorations for those of us who won't be there during this holiday season.

We wish you HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I really would love to be in Paris during the holiday season. I was there in November and returned home just before Thanksgiving. The windows were being done, all covered, some of the lights were up but I was so wishing I could have seen the unveiling of those windows.
