Christmas vacation

I'm going to study in Aberdeen and christmas vacation will begin from 19 Dec till 9 Jan. Unfortunately My Schengen visa will be expire by this date so I will have to spend it in UK so is there any suggestions to set up my plan?
Thanks.

What sorts of things do you enjoy?

Also- when do you start your courses? If This Fall -you'll have lots of time to make friends in Aberdeen and can probably get some ideas from them?

First we need to know what kind of things you like to do, whether you have to vacate your accommodation for the holiday period, how far you wish to travel & what your budget might be. Ski-ing in Aviemore comes to mind immediately but you may not want to do that.

First thing to realise is that the UK closes on Christmas Day - so wherever you are staying, whatever you are eating and however you are going to get around needs to be sorted out

I'm interested in anything related to historical places, natural scenes, entertainment shows and concerts.

Abdullah, you must go to a pantomime. There will be a big one at the Theatre(Sleeping Beauty); and a smaller one at the Arts Centre(Cinderella). The Arts Centre one always sells out.

Christmas is a very family time. Not a lot on on the 24th or 25th.

Hogmanay and New Year is when we let our hair down.

I recall you're in halls on King Street. Is that right? Can you keep them over the holiday?

The Overseas Students Association will be running a programme of events over the hols. The University also has a nine lessons and carols service at St Machar's Cathedral on the Wednesday before term ends. Even tho'/if you're Muslim, I'd recommend you go for the experience.

The Messiah is playing at the Music Hall on the 14th. Go to that too.

If you fancy doing the Boxing Day dip, let me know. I'll come and laugh at you

Hogmanany in Edinburgh is a blast for a young person (lots of drink- if that's a problem for you, maybe no so much). If you want to do it, book hostel places asap. (I recall you're on a budget.)http://www.edinburghshogmanay.org/

There will be a smaller programme in Aberdeen.http://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/nmsru...1908&sID=11139

The big deal hereabouts is the fireballs in Stonehaven.

Most concerts and things will have student discount if you show your student ID card.
