What's the best Christmas market in London, or some of the best Christmasy things to do? We are expecting it to be very cold and rainy so are anticipating being under cover or inside. Covent Garden? Stop at Trafalgar Square to see Christmas tree? Nice tea rooms, not to miss Christmas things? Have seen most of the main attractions already except Westminster so plan to go there. Thanks!

There is a Christmas market on south bank starting I think at the London Eye. Trafalgar Square is decked out and there is carolling there in the evening starting this weekend. Oxford street and regent street and the area around have lights up and Covent garden definitely is decked out as well.
If you are here over Xmas then be sure you plan for no transit on 25Dec...none at all. Also a good idea to book your meals for that day in advance.
Enjoy!!

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland perhaps??

It's rarely "very cold" in London - indeed virtually never by the Arctic standards of most of North America in winter.
By definition, it cannot be "very cold" and rain at the same time. But, since London gets less rain than New York, Rome or Tel Aviv, that might not be altogether relevant.
Rather than fuss about avoiding a few minutes outside (which is where all worthwhile Christmas markets are), just buy an extra cardigan or scarf.
For quirky shops, Columbia Road, which hosts an open air flower market on Sunday mornings, holds evening shopping events on Wednesdays leading up to Christmas. Not on your usual tourist trail, Columbia Road tends to attract Londoners - and a lot of French and Italians who love markets: http://www.columbiaroad.info/press.html
